Description
39 inch Sawfish Bill.
More accurately called a rostrum, this piece is modeled from a sawfish that died in captivity at an aquarium. Sawfishes, also known as carpenter sharks, are a family of rays characterized by a long, narrow, flattened rostrum, or nose extension, lined with sharp transverse teeth, arranged in a way that resembles a saw.
Buying or selling a real sawfish rostra (snouts) is illegal in the U.S. and internationally due to Endangered Species Act protections.
